How does this assignment relate to your SDG theme? The assignment relates to my theme of Good Health and Well-Being by using visual shapes to break down the important concepts of physical and mental health and wellness. There are specific shapes and colors that are used in this PowerPoint presentation that provide symbolic representations of the many different aspects of health.
Why did you choose this approach, and what does it mean to you? I chose this approach to use visual aids to teach lessons about health and vitality in a visually pleasing way. Abstract concepts like well-being can sometimes be hard to understand through words alone and often can be more impactful by using interesting shapes and pleasing color palettes. To me this method is the most intriguing way to represent both the principles of design and the principles of good health.
What tools did you use? The tools I used for this project were PowerPoint, the provided school lectures on Canvas and YouTube tutorials to learn how to use PowerPoint.
What did you learn? I learned that visual communication is a very powerful tool that can be used to convey important information if properly structured. The designing aspect taught me how shapes and colors can communicate or reinforce a message about any topic regardless of its importance or lack thereof. I also learned a great deal about the different principles of design and how they are used collectively.
