How does the interview topic relate to your SDG theme? The interview connects directly to my theme of Good Health and Well-Being by demonstrating the physical and mental fortitude it takes to go through multiple major surgeries. The interviewee’s experience illustrates long-term rehabilitation, managing physical limitations, and taking back their overall fitness and mental wellness post knee surgeries.
Why did you choose this topic, and what does it mean to you? The reason I chose this topic is because it showcases physical discipline and the psychological willpower needed to rebuild body and mind after enduring mental and physical trauma. This subject highlights the fact that health and well-being are not just the lack of an injury, but the process of getting better when an injury does occur. It hits close to home for me when hearing it from a close friend.
What tools did you use? The tools utilized were a Canon DSLR camera for filming, Moman C1X Wirelless Lavalier for capturing audio, Adobe Audition for audio mixing and Premiere Pro for editing the video.
What did you learn? I learned that recovery from multiple major surgeries effect an individual just as much physically as it does mentally. Through my friend’s experience, I discovered that good health and well-being is a multifaceted subject that takes patience, consistency in physical therapy and proper mental health management in order to adapt when your body experiences changes that cause limitations.
